September 2006 Newsletter
Welcome Back!
Welcome to GRGA’s fall session! We hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable summer. GRGA had a number of exciting happenings over the summer, including our first in-house competition at our new facility, a chartered bus trip to the National Championships in St. Paul, an exciting Tall Timber Days weekend and a profitable Applebee’s pancake breakfast fundraiser for our competitive teams! We look forward to many equally exciting events during the school year and will keep you updated through future newsletters. We want to wish all of our brand new gym members an especially warm welcome to our program!
Individual Progress Charts
Progress charts for each class level will be distributed mid-September to all gymnasts enrolled at GRGA. This is a great way for students to set personal goals and track their own achievements in class. The last week of the session, star stickers will be given for skills that students have demonstrated proficiency with. When students master all the skills on their current progress chart, they will be ready to move up to the next level.
Make-up Class Policy
GRGA will allow make-ups to be done when we are notified in advance of a child’s absence from class as well as notified of the desired make-up date. All make-ups must be approved by a GRGA staff member. Students are allowed two make-up classes per session. Great care and planning is done each day to implement lesson plans based on the number of students enrolled in the class. It is very helpful to our planning and staffing of classes if you can let us know if your child will miss. We will not pro-rate tuition for classes missed.
Birthday Parties
GRGA will offer birthday parties on selected weekends of each month. More information on our new party packages can be found in the lobby pamphlet. A $25 deposit is required to reserve a party date as space is limited. Check out our new packages specifically for pre-k students!
Pre-k Gymnastics
We are excited to offer our preschool gymnasts a separate and cozier gym space for their weekly classes. All pre-k gymnastics classes will be offered in our newly expanded front area for dance, gymnastics and yoga. Different stations will be set up weekly, focusing on different themes and important concepts each week. Our preschool gymnasts can spend time learning the fundamentals of the sport utilizing equipment that is suitable for smaller bodies.
Yoga
Yoga will be offered on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:45-7:00 p.m. beginning September 5th. Cost is $6 per time or $25 per month. No pre-registration is required – just show up!

GRGA Annual Holiday Show
GRGA will host a Holiday Show again this year at Greenway High School for ALL dance and gymnastics students, including pre-school. As the date nears, GRGA will order leotards for each student. The cost for each leotard can be taken from your fundraising account. So, if you haven’t begun fund-raising yet, this is a great reason to start. Participation in the show is entirely optional.
Fall Open Gym Schedule
In order to provide more attention to our members and keep open gym a fun and safe event for all, open gym will now be a member-only event. To participate in open gym, you must be enrolled in current classes. GRGA also encourages members to utilize open gym as a make up class for any absences from regular class during the week.
Open Gym will be held several Saturdays each month but not every Saturday. Due to GRGA’s travel schedule for competitions, open gym will not be held on certain weekends. Please monitor the calendar in the lobby regularly to see open gym dates.
Also, new to the fall schedule will be two separate open gym times based on age. On Saturday, GRGA will hold open gym for ages 3-5 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM in the front Pre-K gym. This open gym option requires that the parent be present on the floor with their child in the gym. For ages 6 and up, open gym will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday afternoons. Cost for open gym is $5 per time.
